HTMS Prasae Memorial

One of the tourist attractions in Klaeng district of Rayong is HTMS Prasae Memorial. This US frigate was built in 1943 and was originally named “USS Gallup″. After the second world war, the ship was sold to the Royal Thai Navy under the condition that it would be used to help in the Korean War. It was finally decommisioned in 2000 and docked permently in Paknam Prasae. It is free to explore the boat and climb onto the deck and up to the wheelhouse. Though you are not allowed inside. Many of the guns are still in place. Nearby, there is a mangrove walk along the coastline.
